2PHL 113 will need to be taken in the Sophomore year Fall semester if not taken in Austria.

4One REd elective must be taken from among these choices: REd 304 The Catechumenate and the RCIA; REd 305 Teaching Scripture in a Catechetical Framework; or REd 311 Youth Ministry.
#All students are encourage to spend a semester in Austria. This should be taken either first or second semester Sophomore year. This typica program shows a Spring semester Sophomore year in Austria, but this may be done in the sophomore year fall semester. Students not going to Austria should take THE 115 Christian Moral Principles and PHL 113 Philosophy of the Human Person in the spring semester of the Freshman year. Foreign language, other than German, may also be studied in the Freshman and/or Sophomore years if the student is not going to Austria to study.
AUSTRIAN SEMESTER COURSES include: ENG 205 Studies in Drama, PHL 113 Philosophy of the Human Person, PHL 211 Metaphysics, PHL 436 Special Topics in Philosophy, HST 323 Medieval World, HST 327 French Revolution and 19th Century Europe, THE 341 Christian Marriage and THE 436 Special Topics im Theology, GRM 101, 102, 201, 202. Your advisor will help you make adjustements in your required classes.
^HONOR STUDENTS: You will substitute HON 101, 102, 201, 202, 301, 302, 401, 402 for the courses indicated. Students going to Austria will be allowed to audit one section except HON 401 or 402.
NOTE: The REd major can earn a double major in Theology by adding two (20 upper division Theology electives and the Theology Senior Thesis (THE 434) or Coordinating Seminar (THE 435) to their Religious Education major.
What are the goals and objectives for student achievement in the Religious Education Major?
- Majors will be challenged to deepen their knowledge of the Catholic Faith, in particular, and Christianity in general. This Goal is addressed in all courses in the major.
- Students majoring in Religious Education will be shown how to present effectively the teaching of Christ and His Church in a variety of ministries. This goal is addressed in all the Religious Education (REd) courses.
- Majors are given a sound grounding in Catholic Theology both in the systematic and moral spheres. This Goal is addressed in the required courses THE 101, 115, 211, 212, 213, 214, and 314.

GENERAL EDUCATION GOALS AND CORE CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS:
